Editorial policy

This policy explains how the guides on Repagevia are written, checked and corrected, and how we handle our own commercial interest.

Last updated 3 November 2026

Purpose of the guides

Repagevia's guides help New Zealand business owners understand and plan website redesigns. They aim to be accurate, practical and honest about uncertainty. They are not a substitute for professional advice, and guides that discuss law are general information only.

Who writes them

Guides are written and edited by Lily Morris, the pen name used by Repagevia's editor. We use a pen name to give the guides a consistent byline and a single accountable editor, while keeping personal details private. We do not attach invented qualifications or a fictional biography to the name. The author page explains more.

Choosing topics

We write about questions New Zealand business owners face when planning a redesign. Topics are chosen because they are useful, not because they attract the most searches. Suggestions from readers are welcome at hello@repagevia.site.

Sources

Order of preference

Every factual claim is checked against a source. We use sources in this order of preference:

  1. Legislation and official legal texts
  2. Regulators and government departments, such as the Commerce Commission, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, the Department of Internal Affairs and NZ Digital government
  3. Standards bodies and official platform documentation, such as W3C and Google Search Central
  4. Secondary sources, such as law firm summaries and industry articles
  5. Commercial sources, such as pricing pages published by businesses that sell websites

Labelling

Each source in a guide's source list is labelled with its type. Secondary and commercial sources are always identified as such, so readers can weigh them accordingly. Where a commercial source has a clear interest, such as a web firm publishing prices, we say so in the text.

Quotes and figures

Quotes are reproduced word for word from the source, inside quotation marks. Figures, such as price ranges, are reported in the source's own terms, including whether they include GST. If a source contradicts itself, we report both figures and say so rather than choosing one.

Legal content

When a guide discusses a legal requirement, we follow the wording of the law or the regulator's guidance closely and avoid overstating what it requires. We note who a rule applies to, and when it took effect if that matters. Legal guides carry a statement that they are general information, not legal advice.

Claims we will not make

We hold our guides and marketing to the same standard we recommend to clients. We do not publish:

  • Results figures from client projects
  • Statistics we cannot source
  • Invented testimonials or reviews
  • Guarantees of search rankings or business outcomes
  • Credentials, awards or memberships we do not hold

Before-and-after examples on this site are illustrative concepts of fictional businesses, labelled as such.

Checking

Before a guide is published or updated, each claim is checked against its source and each link is tested. Dates on sources record when they were last read. Guides are written in New Zealand English.

Updates

Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We review guides when a source they depend on changes and at least once a year. Minor edits, such as fixing a typo or a broken link, may not change the date. Substantive changes do.

Corrections

If you think something in a guide is wrong, email hello@repagevia.site with the page address and the problem. We will:

  1. Check the claim against its source and any new information you provide
  2. Correct confirmed errors promptly
  3. Note significant corrections on the page, saying what changed

We do not quietly rewrite guides to hide mistakes.

Commercial interest

Repagevia sells website redesign services. This is disclosed in the footer of every page. Every guide carries a sidebar box and a call-to-action band pointing to our planner and quotes, and a guide occasionally links to a relevant service in the body where that helps the reader. We do not accept payment from third parties to mention products or services, and we do not use affiliate links.

Use of tools

We may use software tools, including spelling checkers and drafting assistants, to help prepare guides. Every guide is reviewed by the editor, and every factual claim is checked against a source before publication, whatever tools were used along the way.

Independence

Nobody outside Repagevia reviews or approves guides before publication. Sources we cite have not paid to be included, and being cited is not an endorsement of a business or its services. Where we cite commercial pages, such as published price lists, we do so because they are the only public information available, and we say who published them.

Questions about our editorial standards

Do you accept guest posts or sponsored content?

No. Every guide is written and edited in-house, and we do not publish sponsored content.

Can I ask you to cite my business or article?

You can suggest a source, and we will consider it on its merits. We do not cite sources in exchange for payment or links.
